Nope. T’ain’t. Nuh-uh.

Not just Pilates.

Pilates quibblers may be surprised by my classes. My movement background is steeped in it, but I hesitate to call this strictly Pilates. (More on this in the FAQs.) We’ll do a wide variety of exercises with varying goals using sound principles of movement & some Franklin Method® flavour.

No advice about…

diet, lifestyle, or other health therapies. While those subjects interest me, they are not my expertise. I teach movement & exercise. Only.

No judgement or pressure.

We are not all the same, nor should we be. Heck, you might feel different from one day to the next. I offer you choices, and respect your freedom to choose how you move, as well as choosing to keep your camera off.

Not on social media.

You will not find much of me, in my work capacity, on insta-thingy, tik-a-doodle, nor faceballs. Is it because I’m too old to fuss? Maybe. Or because I’d rather do at least 20 other things? Probably.

No calorie talk.

At least, not from me. You can count ’em, but I don’t.

Not rehab.

Over a decade of working in a clinical setting, within a rehabilitation team, certainly informs how & what I teach - routinely considering injury prevention and modification - but none of these classes are meant to substitute rehab with a Registered Health Professional (RHP). Nor are they suited to anyone with acute injury. Several classes are in fact advanced level. See class + workshop descriptions to find one that may complement your rehabilitative exercise goals.

No mystic vibes.

My classes do not have an ethereal tone.

No hawk eyes.

After a career of in-person teaching, I plainly admit that keeping my eye on you in an online group setting is difficult. So, I demonstrate, articulate, and glance as much as I can. The upside: you have the freedom to be more uniquely YOU. If you need individual attention and my laser focus, please contact me about a Private Session at lolli@movewithlolli.com

No utterance of…

the phrases “Hold in your core” or “Keep your core tight”. Because I want you to breathe! And, I want you to have a strong core, not a stuck one.

No dogma.

The more I learn, I of course discover what I don't know, but I also bump into things that were once impressed upon me as important, but, it turns out, are VERY negotiable. Some rules are based on sound mechanics; some are myths bloated by time. I try to impart this; here's why this rule can be helpful, and here's why this rule may be kinda useless.

No over-cuing.

Have you ever taken a class with relentless cues, leaving no room to feel or think for yourself? I cull my cues carefully. Not a fan of clogging your attention with details that are not chiefly relevant to the task at hand. While I’m keen on good form, excess cues can freeze you from moving at all. I try to be swift & selective, preferring to give you a wider breadth of exercises than spend our time swamped in interpretation & hypervigilance.
