FAQs
Do I need Zoom?
You sure do. Instal is easy, and free! Click here.
Do I need to have my camera on?
No way. I respect your choice to keep your camera off if it is your preference. If you DO enable your camera, know that I will not see you well if you’re backlit by a window. Participants mute their microphone after our initial hellos.
Do I need any equipment?
You need a mat or rug or carpeted floor space. If that’s all you have right now, you can still participate. See class descriptions for the equipment/props we typically use. That’s where you’ll also learn how critical or not an item is, and what other household items might substitute.
What if I have an injury/limitation/condition I’m concerned about?
I want you to be safe! If after reading the class/workshop descriptions, you’re still not certain an offering suits you, write to me (lolli@movewithlolli.com) before attending. I may be able to confidently direct you into a suitable class once I'm familiar with your concerns, or help 1-on-1 instead, or refer you elsewhere. Know that none of my classes are suited for acute injuries, nor for folks who are not ready to self-manage recovering/minor injuries.
Where do I start if I’m a beginner?
If you’re just a beginner to my classes - not a beginner to exercise - hop into any class that interests you. For true beginners, I recommend you look at the workshops section of my class descriptions. This is where we cover foundational learning and movement. I’d like to think that if you took a few (or all) of those, you’d be ready for a class like Core or the Lunch Snack. Several people thereafter “graduate” to more challenging classes.
Can I book a Private Session?
Yes-ish. My Private & Semi Private schedule is very full. Kindly write to me (lolli@movewithlolli.com). I will certainly try to accommodate you!
Is it Pilates?
You can call it Pilates if you want to. Depends on how liberal you’re willing to be with the word. Some people think of Pilates as a set of prescribed exercises. Some people think of it as an approach, a way of thinking about movement. I’m lucky to have come from this school of thought, thanks to my lineage of mentors: once you've learned some principle movements & shapes, you continue learning anatomy & biomechanics, and THEN - this is the departure some Pilates purists don't take - you apply critical thinking & imagination. Further, the context of my exceptional work history means Pilates is not the only language I speak. Couple this with my adjunct studies & self practice - especially in the Franklin Method® - and I can't help but end up with a huge repertoire of exercises, many of which you might never find in someone else's Pilates class or private session. I call it Movement, and I call it Exercise. Whatever YOU call it, I hope you also call it fun!
